The Spreading Process

Haulage

The digestate is hauled to the fields with our lorries or tractors where it is offloaded into a ‘nurse tank’ which is strategically positioned for ease of off-loading and supply to the fields. The nurse tank is a specialist piece of equipment that not only acts as a holding tank but also incorporates a remote-controlled pumping system which pumps the material via umbilical pipes to the spreading machine in the field.

Application

The digestate is normally transported to the respective fields via umbilical pipes where they are connected to a tractor mounted dribble bar system capable of spreading a 12m, 18m or 24m spreading band or in some cases 3m direct injection depending on the crop type. The tractors are equipped with specialist technology enabling accurate application rates, mapping and recording.

An alternative to a tractor mounted system is the trailer tanker and dribble bar or the more specialist Claas Xerion spreader which avoids the need for the umbilical system.
