Community Liaison Group

About The Group

In 2015 GP Biotec set up a Community Liaison Group. The main purpose of the Group is to facilitate communication, share information and engage in balanced discussions about any issues arising from GP Biotec’s permitted waste recycling and disposal activities regarding GP Biotec’s activities at Great Porthamel Farm, Talgarth.

The group meets twice a year, in April and October, with the ability to call an extraordinary meeting should the need arise. The main objectives are to provide local residents, interested parties, regulatory bodies and GP Biotec a forum for the exchange of information.

The Group Is Designed To:

– Maintain close links and communications with local communities and businesses in the area;
– Provide readily accessible information to enable local people to gain a greater understanding of GP Biotec’s activities;
– Enable local people to raise any questions or points of concern;
– Enable GP Biotec to understand and respond to the views of local people;
– Enable discussion of regulatory bodies’ monitoring of the site and GP Biotec’s compliance with the approved schemes of operation e.g. Natural Resources Wales, Renewable Energy Association, Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratory Agency;
– Provide a forum to discuss particular aspects of the operation and where appropriate invite participation by specialist bodies;
– Enable GP Biotec to give early warning to businesses and residents of temporary potentially impactful activities, for example spreading activities with the aim of minimising the effects of any impacts.
